May 4th, 1937 Battalion Chief Mahoney, Acting Deputy Fire Commissioner Died in the Line of Duty of Injuries previously received while operating at a Working Fire at the Elmwood Music Hall at Elmwood Ave and Virginia St on April 26th. Chief Mahoney was a Very Highly Decorated member of the Department for 49 year's known to many as Buffalo's Number 1 Fireman. Chief Mahoney was injured on many occasions including a one year recovery after battling a fire at the infamous HooDoo Box 29.
