August 6th, 1929 Fireman Hoffman of Ladder Co. 11 Died in the Line of Duty while operating at a 2 Alarm fire at the Websters Citizens Ice House at 151-157 Lathrop St. Fireman Hoffman was buried in debris when the building collapsed during overhaul operations. Twenty members were injured in the collapse. Fireman Hoffman had served less than a year with the B.F.D. after transferring from the Police Department.
