January 13th,1890 Fireman Morrissey of Engine Co. 6 Died in the Line of Duty while returning from a fire on Whites Corners Plank Rd. ( South Park/Southside area) Fireman Morrissey and his companion noticed a train backing around the corner of the Abbott Rd. Crossing at a high rate of speed. The men jumped from the Engine, Morrissey was struck and killed instantly! He was 23 years of age.
