September 5th, 1926 Fireman Carbine of Ladder Co. 1 Died in the Line of Duty of Injuries previously received on August 19th while responding to a 3+ Alarm Fire at 34-40 Mechanic St. Fireman Carbine was thrown from the tiller seat after the apparatus was struck by a Trolley car while responding up W. Genesee St sending the apparatus crashing into the Statler Hotel. The Motorman was arrested for failure to yield to the apparatus after witnesses stated he had plenty of time to stop. Fireman Carbine was filling in for the normal tillerman who had wheeled the rear of Ladder 1 for over 15 years.
