January 3rd, 1927 Fireman Wolf of Engine Co. 17 Died in the Line of Duty while operating at a basement fire at the School #38 Annex at W.Utica St and Massachusetts Ave. Fireman Wolf was overcome by smoke and passed out but was unable to be quickly removed from the basement because of the weight of his boots and firefighting garments filling up with water. Fireman Wolf was a member of the Pan American Exposition Fire Detail in 1901.
