December 23rd, 1882 Fireman Smith of Ladder Co.3 Died in the Line of Duty of Injuries previously received on December 21st while operating at a 3+ Alarm Fire at 337-339 Washington St. Fireman Smith was struck by falling bricks and knocked senseless. After being observed by doctors, no fracture was found. Fireman Smith was taken to the General Hospital where a fractured skull was discovered. Fireman Smith Died of his injuries over 24 hours later. Fireman Smith was a 2 year veteran of the B.F.D. the 1st Line of Duty Death in the Departments History.
