Lt. Charles Harrison

October 15th, 1893 Lieutenant Harrison of Engine Co. 23 the Fireboat John M. Hutchinson Died in the Line of Duty of injuries previously received while enroute to the Fireboats Quarters. On October 14th, Harrison was walking to the boats quarters on the New York Central tracks heading towards Genesee St when he was struck by the steps of a passing train near Georgia St. The Lieutenant was thrown under the train and his right leg was severely crushed. He was taken to the General Hospital where his leg was amputated. He died of complications the next day. Lieutenant Harrison was the 2nd member of the BFD to die in 9 days.
