December 19th, 1915 Fireman Wick of Engine Co. 9 Died in the Line of Duty of Injuries Previously received in the performance of his duties. On February 11th, 1909 Fireman Wick was operating a handline on the roof of a building at a General Alarm Fire at Michigan Ave and Perry St. when smoke conditions obscurred his vision and he fell down a skylight sufferring severe head trauma. Fireman Wick slowly healed and eventually returned to work after a long convalescence with a soft spot in his head. While performing his normal duties on December 19th, he struck his head on a ground ladder. He died a short time later at the General Hospital.
