January 8th, 1920 Fireman Haley of Ladder Co. 2 Died in the Line of Duty while operating at a 3 Alarm Fire at Box 29 The HooDoo Box for a fire at 145-147 Seneca St. While searching for trapped workers on the roof, members of Ladder Co. 2 became cut off from their escape route. The crew had to await another ladder to be raised to rescue them. Fireman Haley became overcome by smoke while leaning over the roofs edge to locate the ladder. He fell 25 feet to the roof below while reaching for the new escape route. The 19 year veteran died in the Emergency Hospital hours later from his injuries.
