October 7th, 1908 Fireman Schellheimer of Ladder Co. 3 Died in the Line of Duty while operating at a 2+ Alarm Fire at the Nowak Elevator at Broadway and The Belt Line Crossing. While performing overhaul 5 hours after the fire began, a collapse of the east wall of the building buried a half dozen men working inside. Fireman Schellheimer was dug out and taken to an office nearby where he was pronounced deceased.
