September 11th, 1917 Driver Kaiser, Aide to Assistant Chief Murphy Died in the Line of Duty while en-route to pick up The Chief from his lunch period at home. While driving through the intersection of Porter and Prospect Avenues, Kaiser struck the vehicle of Chief Engineer Driggs of the Pumping Station and was thrown from the vehicle, striking his head. Kaiser who spent his whole 26 year career as Chief Murphys Driver died a short time later at the General Hospital.
