August 12, 1909 Fireman Riley of Ladder Co. 9 Died in the Line of Duty of Injuries Previously received on August 10th while responding to an Alarm of Fire at 360 Grant St. Fireman Riley was jolted from the tiller seat after the apparatus struck the curb and a pole while turning on to Plymouth Ave from Jersey St. Fireman Riley was only filling in for the regular tillerman who was acting Lieutenant at the time of the call.
