December 18th, 1929 Fireman Zahm of Engine Co. 2 Died in the Line of Duty while operating at a 2 Alarm Fire at the I.R.C. Bus & Trolley Garage at Main St. and Michigan Ave. Fireman Zahm became trapped by fast moving flames while working a hoseline, was rescued by his comrades but died enroute to the Hospital from severe burns.
