January 23rd, 1891 Fireman Schneider of Engine Co.4 Died in the Line of Duty while operating at a 3+ Alarm Fire at Pearl St and The Terrace. Fireman Schneider was operating a stream of water into the gutted shell of the building when the floors collapsed causing the front wall to crumble. Fireman Schneider and his comrades were buried under the buildings arch before being dug out. Fireman Schneider suffered tremendous head injuries and succumbed before the ambulance arrived.
